UN membership
The Soviet Union was a founding member of the UN until its dissolution at 1991. The resulting independent republics are: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Estonia, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Lithuania, Moldova, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, Uzbekistan and The Russian Federation that continues the membership of the Soviet Union at the UN.
Security Council membership
During the period 1946-1991, the Soviet Union was a permanent member.
Since 1992, the Soviet Union's membership is being continued by the Russian Federation.
